Did You Know...?

…That static control procedures were in place as far back as the 1400’s? Caribbean and European forts put protocols in place to prevent discharge ignition of their black powder stores. By the 1860’s, U.S. paper mills had learned to dissipate static electricity from paper webs travelling through the drying process. They employed basic grounding techniques, flame ionization and steam drums.

Today, many companies control dangerous (and eventually expensive!) static in their production areas by employing a comprehensive Static Control Program. Specially-designed flooring, like the FLOROCK ESD Flooring System, which is qualified against ESD Association Standards (ANSI/ESD S20.20), can play an important role.
